Hey guys.
I'm not sure why this site is still getting hits, so I'll post this once again.

Stuck In My Skull 321-- "Moon Trance"

Song: "Moon Trance" || Artist: Lindsey Stirling || http://youtu.be/0dfZ9BXaNyE ||

[youtube http://youtu.be/0dfZ9BXaNyE]

Comments: Because who doesn't love dancing zombies? Lindsey Stirling released this very Halloween-themed song last week, and I decided to use it today. Musically, it's interesting to see Lindsey utilizing electronic and techno elements without going all the way to dubstep. And let's face it. Dancing zombies. What more could you want? Happy Halloween!

ETC #11 "This is Halloween"

Song: "This Is Halloween"
Artist: Nightmare Before Christmas
Link: http://youtu.be/xpvdAJYvofI

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xpvdAJYvofI]

Comments: HAPPY HALLOWEEN!  I couldn't help but share this song today.  Even for those of you who don't like this particular holiday this is a catchy song and there's nothing scary about it. The movie is excellent and I recommend that people watch it.  There isn't much to say about this song other than it's catchy, the opening piece, and if there was a way to make Halloween cute this is it. I would share something a bit more dramatic to fit the holiday, but this particular one has been stuck in my head.  Happy listening!

AMANDA--"DANSE MACABRE" by CAMILLE SAINT-SAENS

Written By amandathepanda on Tuesday, October 30, 2012 | 10/30/2012 02:00:00 AM

Hello all! Tomorrow's Halloween and as such I feel obligated to share this song with you. It's the well-known "Danse Macabre" (I love that word...MACABRE) by French composer Camille Saint-Saens. The piece has been used extensively in film and television and I can see why.Typical of the Romantic period, the song is highly emotional, innovative, and beautiful yet haunting. The music is actually based on a creepy/cool French poem about superstition that reads as follows:

Zig, zig, zig, Death in cadence,
Striking a tomb with his heel,
Death at midnight plays a dance-tune,
Zig, zig, zag, on his violin.
The winter wind blows, and the night is dark;
Moans are heard in the linden trees.
White skeletons pass through the gloom,
Running and leaping in their shrouds.
Zig, zig, zig, each one is frisking,
You can hear the cracking of the bones of the dancers.
A lustful couple sits on the moss
So as to taste long lost delights.
Zig zig, zig, Death continues
The unending scraping on his instrument.
A veil has fallen! The dancer is naked.
Her partner grasps her amorously.
The lady, it's said, is a marchioness or baroness
And her green gallant, a poor cartwright.
Horror! Look how she gives herself to him,
Like the rustic was a baron.
Zig, zig, zig. What a saraband!
They all hold hands and dance in circles.
Zig, zig, zag. You can see in the crowd
The king dancing among the peasants.
But hist! All of a sudden, they leave the dance,
They push forward, they fly; the cock has crowed.
Oh what a beautiful night for the poor world!
Long live death and equality!

Personally, I love the sweeping flute and violin parts and how the song shifts in tone, sounding dark and ominous one moment and romantic the next. Here  I've embedded  a cartoon made by PBS, which I think is a great visual representation of the text and an excellent alternative to other random Youtube videos of the song. Enjoy and have a safe Halloween!

Stuck In My Skull 320 -- "Sacrimony (Angel of Afterlife)"

Song: "Sacrimony (Angel of Afterlife)" || Artist: Kamelot || http://youtu.be/ORAc_hx33-Q ||

[youtube: http://youtu.be/ORAc_hx33-Q]

Live version: http://youtu.be/a74TZSlnTW4

Comments: Well ladies in gentlemen, I'm writing this a bit after midnight on 10/30/12. It's unlikely that my area will lose power from the Superstorm Sandy, but just in case, no harm in having this done the night before. If you're in an area that will be or has been affected by the storm, stay safe. Anyway-- song. I originally saw this song when I went and saw Kamelot touring with Nightwish this fall, and it was fantastic live. For that reason, I found a live version with good sound quality, and included it above. Kamelot is excellent with their new vocalist. While music videos were never Kamelot's forte, metal is, and this song is fantastic. If the storm hasn't blown you away, the song will.

ETC #10 "Let it Rock"

Written By Anonymous on Monday, October 29, 2012 | 10/29/2012 07:39:00 AM

Song: "Let it Rock"
Artist: Kevin Rudolf Ft. Lil Wayne
Link: http://youtu.be/u0n4eMGXAyk

 [youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0n4eMGXAyk]

Comments: Happy Monday, all!  Sorry about the delay on the post today. I have been having some health issues lately and I was passed out early last night and sick this morning so the post is clearly late. Anyway, the song.  It is an old one (2008) and a tune that most people probably know. I heard it on the radio yesterday and it has been on and off inside my head. It's quite contrary to how I've been feeling recently, but it's a decent tune to be stuck in my brain.  I hope that this song brings a smile to your Monday.  Happy listening!

Stuck In My Skull 319 -- "Tetris"

Song: "Tetris" || Artist: Electrixx || http://youtu.be/_pXUl8KMJmc ||

[youtube http://youtu.be/_pXUl8KMJmc]

Comments: Happy Monday, folks! To those of you in the path of Hurricane/Tropical Storm/Insert_Weather_Event_Here Sandy, hunker down and carry on-- be safe above all else. To those of you who aren't, send your thoughts/prayers/good karma/positive feelings to those who are. To anyone reading this, have some music. "Tetris" is a superb remix of the theme of the game Tetris, as mixed by a group I've never heard of called Electrixx. It has excellent dance and dubstep elements in the song, and blends them beautifully. Songs like this remind me why I got into electronic music in the first place. Enjoy!

Stuck In My Skull 318-- "Puppet"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, October 26, 2012 | 10/26/2012 01:00:00 AM

Song: "Puppet" || Artist: Thousand Foot Krutch || http://youtu.be/uTCZHkrb2IM ||

[youtube http://youtu.be/uTCZHkrb2IM]

Comments: What is with me having songs stuck in my head all day lately? This song would not exit my skull for all of yesterday, and so I bring it to you now. Thousand Foot Krutch is one of those bands sitting on the fringe of religious music with that excellent nu metal, pseudo rap sort of grunge beat that I thrive on. I get it in my Linkin Park, I get the thrashier, non-rap bit in my Breaking Benjamin, sometimes I even get it from some System of a Down. For some reason, I never remember to include Thousand Foot Krutch on my list, something I really should. It's epic. Enjoy!

ETC #9 "Seven Devils"

Song: "Seven Devils"
Artist: Florence and the Machine
Link: http://youtu.be/hBcXe2B97TQ

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBcXe2B97TQ]

Comments: Happy Friday, all!  I'm bringing you some more music from those who brought you "Shake It Out".  Florence and the Machine have a different sound to them and I have to say I really like it as a change to what's usually on the radio.  If you listen to them you can now add English Indie Rock to your collection!  I  heard this song thanks to a friend of mine who said it was a bad idea to listen to it in the dark while sitting in your car. Now, whether or not she's right I'll just take her word for it. Though I'm really glad that she passed this song along to me because it convinced me to listen to more of their music and now I'm a fan. I think it would have been cool to make a music video for this song; the makers could definitely have found something creative to do with it.  Happy listening!

AMANDA-- "SUPERSTITION" by STEVIE WONDER

Written By amandathepanda on Thursday, October 25, 2012 | 10/25/2012 02:00:00 AM

Happy Thursday! Since I've decided to run with the theme of Halloween, today's song is "Superstition," a 70's classic. While I don't believe in superstitions, I do believe in Stevie Wonder, a musical icon who has racked up countless hits over the course of his forty year career. This, one of most his recognizable songs, is pure, unadulterated funk. Those beats. That bass. According to Wikipedia, the single solidified his shift away from Motown to a sound all his own, the same unique sound he since become famous for. I dare you to listen to it and resist the urge to sing or dance along. Enjoy!

Stuck In My Skull 317-- Tivoli Vs. Walking On A Dream (Acapella)

Song: "Tivoli Vs. Walking On A Dream (Acapella)" || Artist: Steve Angello Vs. Empire Of The Sun || http://youtu.be/Jj0J1cGcRMc ||

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jj0J1cGcRMc&w=560&h=315]

Comments: Gotta love techno and these crazy-long song titles. Oh well. This song has been bouncing off the walls of my skull and ricocheting around my brainpan all day. It's fantastic. I can't get enough of it. If it weren't for the fact that people are usually around, I would turn up the volume to max and blast this on repeat all day long. This is one of those songs that is good enough that I'm going to have to go look up the original songs that comprise it -- "Tivoli" and "Walking on a Dream." Enjoy!

Stuck In My Skull 316-- "Long Distance Love"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, October 24, 2012 | 10/24/2012 01:00:00 AM

Song: "Long Distance Love" || Artist: DJ Smash feat Vera Brezhneva || http://youtu.be/2iWWnbiC8ok ||

[youtube http://youtu.be/2iWWnbiC8ok]

Comments: Thanks to my friend Kira for tossing this song out on Facebook and translating the title and stuff! Frankly, I can't understand a word that's being said. Usually that's a pretty big turn-off for me, but this song is still fantastic. The beat is amazing, it's in the 'just right' zone between overproduced and too minimalistic, and it doesn't have any pretensions. This song reminds me why I got in to electronic music in the first place. Enjoy!

ETC #8 "Bajo Otra Luz"

Song: "Bajo Otra Luz" (Under Another Light)
Artist: Nelly Furtado Ft. La Mala y Julieta Venegas
Link: http://youtu.be/tEAOxnCDhd8

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEAOxnCDhd8]

Comments:  Hey, everyone.  Originally, I came across this song while my playlist was on shuffle and had forgotten about this particular artist in my music collection.  This song in particular used to get stuck in my head a lot during my senior year of high school, a time when I had an explosion of Spanish music enter into my music world.  Then when I went to watch the music video I figured it would be a perfect fit. At this point in time, I'm sure many of you have already picked your costume for Halloween, but you can still admire the ones in this video and for those of you who don't already have a costume here are some ideas.  Anyhow, many of you may not recognize La Mala the featured artist for this song, but I'm sure you recognize Nelly Furtado.  She is a Canadian born, but of Portugese decent and popular for songs like: "Promiscuous", "I'm Like a Bird", and "Maneater".  Julieta Venegas was also recorded with the two other chicas for this song, but doesn't appear in the video.  According to Wiki it was due to pregnancy.  For those of you who don't speak Spanish I have left a translation of the chorus below.  Enjoy the funny costumes and happy listening!

Chorus Translation: Maybe it's me, maybe it's you/Everything is so different, it's you/Maybe it's me, maybe it's you/Everything seems under a different light

AMANDA-- "HEADS WILL ROLL" by YEAH YEAH YEAHS

Written By amandathepanda on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 | 10/23/2012 04:57:00 AM

Hello faithful readers! Halloween is just around the corner and I couldn't be more excited. I love everything about this holiday: the costumes, candy, scary movies, and creepy music. So for today's post I've combined two of my favorite things-Halloween and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I've been a fan of this indie band for a while now. Karen O, their fabulous lead singer, never fails to amaze me. The song is infectious, danceable, and overall kind of memorizing. The music video features excellent special effects and choreography in the style of Michael Jackson's "Thriller" Enjoy!

No Stuck In My Skull Today!

Sorry guys, but there is no SIMS post today. I'm taking the day off to celebrate the first year anniversary of me and my wonderful girlfriend. Tune in tomorrow for regular content!

Stuck In My Skull 315-- "The Poet and the Pendulum"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, October 22, 2012 | 10/22/2012 01:00:00 AM

Song: "The Poet and the Pendulum" || Artist: Nightwish || http://youtu.be/r3ntHpYocc0 ||

[youtube http://youtu.be/r3ntHpYocc0]

Comments: Normally I wouldn't do two Nightwish songs so close together, but I found out last night that vocalist Anette Olzon has left the band as of October 1. @#$%. That is really, really depressing news. I really enjoyed Nightwish's two albums with Anette, and was looking forward to several more. To my knowledge, no vocalist is currently listed to replace her, and Floor Jansen will be finishing the tour in her slot. As a tribute to the now-departed vocalist, I post the longest Nightwish song I know of, and the first Nightwish song with Anette that I remember playing over and over on repeat. Enjoy!

ETC #7 "Unbroken"

Song: "Unbroken"
Artist: Tim McGraw
Link: http://youtu.be/bep1zyIyuq8

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bep1zyIyuq8]

Comments: Good Monday morning all!  I'm hoping to start your week off with a cheerful song.  I am dedicating this song to my boyfriend as we're celebrating an anniversary tomorrow (and since I don't post on Tuesdays I am sending this song out today). For anyone who has a great relationship with a loved one they will at minimum appreciate the lyrics to this song. It's a song that has that "I'm on cloud nine" feeling put into words.  Most people have probably felt or experienced the message in this song and I for one want my man to listen to it and know that it's something I believe is true for myself.  When I heard it for the first time my thought was "wow, this guy managed to sum up all the feelings I had that I couldn't explain".  Unfortunately, there isn't a music video to this song even though it's fantastic so I have just put up a fan made video (even the best live version I could find wasn't that good).  I'm excited to report that this song (keeping in mind it was released back in 2002) made it to number 1 on the Country charts and 26 on the Billboard Top 100, which is impressive for a country song.  Anyhow, for all you folks I hope that you enjoy this song.  Happy listening!

Stuck In My Skull 314-- "The Scientist"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, October 19, 2012 | 10/19/2012 01:00:00 AM

Song: "The Scientist" || Artist: Coldplay || http://youtu.be/EqWLpTKBFcU ||

[youtube http://youtu.be/EqWLpTKBFcU]

Comments: I sincerely hope that this post is coherent and readable-- it's being written at 3:00 AM. The unquiet mind that lies within the confines of my skull won't shut up, and so I'm still awake at this obscene hour. Right, the song. I sincerely love Coldplay, and have ever since the 7th grade, when a teacher of mine inadvertently sparked a slow-burning fuse that would ignite, years later, into my enjoyment of this British musical sensation. This song is slow, mellow, and comforting, and I had rather hoped it would settle me brain a bit. I'll know once I log off and attempt to sleep again. Oh well. Either way, enjoy the song!

Random note: I really hate the label "Alternative Rock." It doesn't tell you a thing. According to Wikipedia, "The name "alternative rock" essentially serves as an umbrella term for underground music that has emerged in the wake of punk rock since the mid-1980s." How silly. Someone suggest a better name? Say what you will about metal and electronic music, but at least the titles of their subgenres are descriptive.

ETC #6 "Crawlin' Back to You"

Song: "Crawlin' Back to You"
Artist: Daughtry
Link: http://youtu.be/g2WJ3mhjgHA

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2WJ3mhjgHA]

Comments: Hey all, happy Friday!  A while back when Daughtry was came out with his first album I was a big fan, thought his music was excellent, and loved listening to his songs. And while all of the above still applies that amount of listening I've done with his music has dwindled and I need to get back to it.  Anyhow, this song was released last year and I will admit to having it stuck in my head on several occassions.  I like this video, however, I would have liked to have seen a more exciting music video as well.  With the topic of conversation in this song I think that they could have made an even better video out of it.  He had a new song release back in March with "Outta my Head" and in September with "Start of Something Good".  I recommend looking up Daughtry if you haven't already.  Happy Listening!

AMANDA--"BI***S AIN'T SH*T" by BEN FOLDS

Written By amandathepanda on Thursday, October 18, 2012 | 10/18/2012 02:00:00 AM

Hello! Today is the second (and final part) of my mini cover week. As you might have guessed from the title of the entry, this song is NSFW. Admittedly, I have a really hard time actually enjoying and taking the original seriously but Ben Folds manages to turn Dr. Dre's "Bitches Ain't Shit" into an incredibly lighthearted, whimsical pop song. Misogyny aside, there's something I find kind of charming about it. This version also makes it much easier to sing along to Dre's lyrics. Enjoy!

Stuck In My Skull 313-- "Fortune Days"

Song: "Fortune Days" || Artist: The Glitch Mob || http://youtu.be/xC-qHr7J4uU ||

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xC-qHr7J4uU]

Comments: Awhile back, I used another song by this group-- "We Can Make The World Stop." I have to say, the more I listen to The Glitch Mob, the more I am falling in love with them.  TGM has all of the bass I want without sounding distorted (a curiously uncommon trait), and has some ridiculously catchy hooks and beats. In short, TGM is exactly what I want out of my electronic music.

As for today's video, there is no official video for this song, so rather than album art, I saw that someone had posted a video of themselves playing (possibly highscoring on) Audiosurf to this song, and decided it was better than a single image. Enjoy!

ETC #5 "Guns and Horses"

Written By Anonymous on Wednesday, October 17, 2012 | 10/17/2012 09:51:00 AM

Song: "Guns and Horses"
Artist: Ellie Goulding
Link: http://youtu.be/IDwbHeR0UYc

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDwbHeR0UYc]

Comments: Hey everyone, sorry for the lateness of this post.  I stumbled across this song a while ago while going on a Goulding splurge.  Admittedly, I don't have much to say about this song other than I really enjoy it and that I think the video is excellent. It's definitely different in terms of what she does for the video.  Apparently, this song was about someone that she met online.  Check out the Wiki for some more information on this song.  Happy Listening!

AMANDA--"Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" as performed by the TheUnsungHeroine

Written By amandathepanda on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 | 10/16/2012 02:00:00 AM

Hey! This week my column more or less a has theme. Both today and Thursday I'll be sharing what I consider to be excellent covers. A friend and I recently bonded over a violin cover of the 80's hit "Come on Eileen" and it got us thinking about how silly and unfortunate it is to write off an entire genre or artist. A truly great cover can put a whole new spin on the original and even inspire an appreciation for it that wasn't there to begin with. In an attempt to prove this point, I have chosen songs from two genres that tend to be very polarizing: dubstep and rap. I know many people who generalize negatively about these types of music and dismiss them accordingly. They may have valid criticisms or complaints but I still think it is unfair to judge any one artist or genre without having thoroughly explored what their music has to offer.Today's song is a brilliant piano cover of Skrillex's "Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites" that comes from a talented young artist on Youtube who goes by the username TheUnsungHeroine. This is one of many of the classical covers of modern songs on her page and I think it highlights the beautiful musical qualities of the original quite well. Check it out!

Stuck In My Skull 312-- "7 Days to the Wolves"

Song: "7 Days to the Wolves" || Artist: Nightwish || http://youtu.be/Uod4zDdhofY ||

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uod4zDdhofY]

Comments: Yet another Nightwish song that did well enough to be released as a single, and wasn't, to our infinite sadness. Well, not really infinite, but very great. This song is a shining exemplar of just how flexible of a band Nightwish is, rolling several dramatically different-sounding sections into one song. I love this song. Actually, I love Nightwish, period, but this song is particularly excellent.

Stuck In My Skull 311-- "Bad Romance"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, October 15, 2012 | 10/15/2012 01:29:00 AM

Song: "Bad Romance" || Artist: Lady Gaga || http://youtu.be/qrO4YZeyl0I ||

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qrO4YZeyl0I]

Comments: I have precisely zero idea why this is stuck in my head. It's a rainy day today, so I was planning a mellow, mood-appropriate song, but nope, Lady Gaga. This song is a classic from the modern era of pop (I'm going to say that like I know what I'm talking about, because modern music doesn't require a PhD), and it's excellent. The video is one of the weirdest videos I know of, but that's just Lady Gaga for you. Anyway, most of you have probably heard the song, but watch this anyway. Come and listen again, remember how good this song is, and how insane the video is. Enjoy!

ETC #4 "Try"

Song: "Try"
Artist: P!nk
Link: http://youtu.be/yTCDVfMz15M

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yTCDVfMz15M]

Comments: Happy Monday all!  I discovered the most recent song by P!nk (posted 5 days ago) and I love it.  I have to say that I was surprised by the music video. It is showing a different side to her that I have yet to see with a little modern interpretive  dance.  You can see the struggle that she goes through with the rough relationship she's going through, but yet she always manages to get back up again.  The song is quite different than some of her most recent releases in comparison to the tempo, but it has some of the more serious reflections that can be seen in her earlier work, but with a contemporary spin with the video.  This song and "Blow Me (One Last Kiss) are the singles of her latest album and also her part of her "Truth About Love" tour that will be starting in 2013.  Happy Listening!

ETC #3 "Don't Wake Me Up"

Written By Anonymous on Friday, October 12, 2012 | 10/12/2012 01:00:00 AM

Song: "Don't Wake Me Up"
Artist: Chris Brown
Link: http://youtu.be/QOowQeKyNkQ

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QOowQeKyNkQ]

Comments: Happy Friday fellow music lovers.  This song isn't crazy new, but I heard it on the radio while working recently and I think it's excellent.  It will definitely be stuck in my head tomorrow and I have feeling probably at a not so convenient time when I'm trying to concentrate.  Anyhow, I have to give credit to the people who created this video because of the technology scenes that they put in they have definitely caught my attention and it's creative how they integrated it into the wakening aspect of the song.  The song has managed to get up to #14 on the top 100 list for Billboard and #15 on Youtube's top 100 playlist. I'll admit that the lyrics are slightly repetitive, but hopefully that this song starts getting more radio play.  Enjoy your weekend and happy listening.

Stuck In My Skull 310-- "Rolling in the Deep"

Song: "Rolling in the Deep" || Artist: Adele || http://youtu.be/rYEDA3JcQqw ||

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYEDA3JcQqw]

Comments: I was rather surprised to realize that I had not used this song on the blog. "Rolling in the Deep" was the song that launched Adele into prominence, and I think it's excellent. There was a time in which this song was so overplayed on the radio that I couldn't stand it, and I'm pleased to say that that time has passed. This song is a classic. Adele's distinctive, powerful vocals drive this folk-flavored track to stardom, and keep it stuck in my head quite nicely. Enjoy the song, and enjoy the weekend!

AMANDA--ENTRY.NO 2: "CALLING ALL CROWS" by "STATE RADIO"

Written By amandathepanda on Thursday, October 11, 2012 | 10/11/2012 01:36:00 AM

Hello! I'm really excited to share this song with you today. I came across it earlier in the week and it left quite an impression on me. "Calling All Crows" is an inspiring call to action and the name of a  non-profit co-founded by musician Chad Stokes, the lead vocalist and guitarist of State Radio. The music video features women from all over the world, the very group the organization works to empowers through their music. What most impresses me about  "Calling All Crows"  is that it's an example of artists actually walking the walk. Money from their concerts goes towards funding service projects or to other humanitarian organizations. It may sound cheesy or naive but I love the idea that music is still a force for good in the world, capable of bringing people together and promoting positive social change. That these musicians are drawing upon their talents and their fan base to educate and inspire others to engage in social activism is remarkable to me. Moreover,"Calling All Crows" has a great sound and a great message. Have a listen, enjoy, and thanks for reading!

Stuck In My Skull 309-- "Conquest"

Song: "Conquest" || Artist: The White Stripes || http://youtu.be/0L7FuA8Rry8 ||

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0L7FuA8Rry8]

Comments: Hello, everybody! I've been doing far too much electronic music lately, so I decided to switch it up with some White Stripes! I love The White Stripes-- even if I can never remember if the 'the' is capitalized or not-- and I was so sad when I got into them and discovered they had already broken up. Jack White's vocals paired with the distinctive minimalist instrumentation he and Meg White use creates such a unique, wonderful sound. You will be a conquest of this song, just as I was.

ETC # 2 "I'm in a Hurry"

Written By Anonymous on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 | 10/10/2012 10:19:00 AM

Song: "I'm in a Hurry"
Artist: Alabama
Link: http://youtu.be/6slibTD9MF0

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6slibTD9MF0]

Comments:  Hey guys!  I apologize for the lateness of this post.  I've been going crazy with a load of things to do.  Just as the song I'm bringing you says "I'm in a hurry to get things done/I rush and rush until life's no fun..."  Anyhow, I meant to bring you something other than country today, but this song (appropriately) has been stuck in my head all day today and Alabama is good. Granted, they are part of what I like to include in the older country, as their video reflects, but I really enjoy them and some of my favourite old country songs are of theirs and I didn't realize it up until a little while ago.  Anyhow, I don't recommend the video as much, but the song is catchy.  Happy listening.

Stuck In My Skull 308-- "Die Young"

Song: "Die Young" || Artist: Ke$ha || http://youtu.be/BmV2zPXMzdI ||

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BmV2zPXMzdI]

Comments: "Let's make the most of the night like we're gonna die young." In all fairness, with the amount that Ke$ha drinks, she very well might be dying young, which is saddening. As much as Ke$ha can epitomize all that's wrong with pop music, she's still incredibly catchy. To be honest, I'm surprised that, as of time of writing, this song only has a tad short of three million hits. Anyway, this song is vintage Ke$ha-- go listen and smile. Enjoy your day like you're gonna die young.

Comments: Hello, all! Quick update: Amanda will, from now on, be doing her column on Tuesdays and Thursdays, not Mondays and Fridays-- this will give you two columns on any given day! We hope this works better for everyone.

Right, the song. This was stuck in my head all Monday afternoon, and beat out the new Ke$ha track for this blog entry. Sorry, Ke$ha, you can be tomorrow. This song is aggressively house, and I love it. The beats are hard and fast and unbelievably catchy, and though I don't like MCR very much, Gerard Way does a great job delivering the vocals. For what it's worth, I think the lyrics are hilarious. Enjoy the song!

AMANDA-- ENTRY NO.1: "SKYFALL" by ADELE

Written By amandathepanda on Monday, October 8, 2012 | 10/08/2012 03:44:00 AM

Hello and happy Monday! This is the first post of my very own column (as yet nameless). Not much is changing around here but you can now expect to see entries from me on Mondays AND Fridays. I will continue sharing things that catch my eye or move me, which brings me right to today's song. Last week the theme for the upcoming James Bond film Skyfall was released in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of the franchise. And boy oh boy was it fantastic.

The lovely Adele was  chosen to do the vocals for the track and the perfect pick in my book. She teamed up with the producer of her hit song "Rolling in the Deep" to make one of the best themes I've heard in recent film and tv history. The twenty something English soul-singer joined the ranks of iconic musicians  like Paul McCartney, Carly Simon, and Shirley Bassey who have lent their talents to the music of James Bond films, an honor certainly not wasted on her.

Music has been always been a essential part of my James Bond experience, as  memorable and exciting as the tux, the gadgets, and the women. "Skyfall" is an excellent addition to the Bond soundtrack collection. It eloquently teams  Adele up with a full sweeping orchestra and both deliver flawlessly. For most of the song, Adele's sings rather reservedly, saving up her raw emotion and power for an epic, soulful conclusion. This theme has gotten me more excited for the newest installment in the Bond series, which I didn't know was possible. Even if it weren't connected to the movies in any way, I think I'd still love it. Enjoy!

ETC #1 "I'm Gonna Getcha Good"

Song: "I'm Gonna Getcha Good"
Artist: Shania Twain
Link: http://youtu.be/Z3Pb3EJY5Qg

[youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z3Pb3EJY5Qg]

Comments: Hey there followers, random viewers, and music junkies.  This is Miriah and I will be bringing you ETC (Everything Country to Techno) as a new column on the blog every Monday, Wednesday, Friday.  I'm trying to pick up some of the genres that the other may not (i.e. some country and foreign music mainly) however, there may be some other mainstream stuff in there as well.  Anyhow, I hope that I don't frighten anyone off too soon.  I've loved writing for the blog so far and I'm thrilled that it's expanding and hoping that in the meantime we can gather some new viewers to help bring new music and a wider variety to people.  Please feel free to leave your thoughts and comments for requests, thoughts on improvements, etc.
Anyhow, now to the actual music part of the entry. I picked this song by Shania Twain because as I was looking for songs I really wanted something fun to kick off with and as Twain says "I'm gonna getcha good," as I'm hoping to catch your attention with some great music.  Now, I know country music isn't nearly as popular as maybe some other genres, but this song doesn't have that twangy, southern feel and the video is very entertaining.  It has some droids that look like something out of Star Wars and I want whatever vehicle that she's riding.  How cool it would be to explore a world that she's created in the video.  Happy listening!

Stuck In My Skull 306-- "Moar Ghosts N Stuff" and Site Update!

Comments: Hello, everybody, and welcome to the shiny new Stuck In My Skull! This week is going to be jam-packed full of awesome, all hosted on this site for your viewing and listening pleasure! You might notice that instead of "Entry 306," today's post is labelled "Stuck In My Skull 306." That's to keep our columns neatly labelled and separated. Yes, I said columns. Both Miriah's and Amanda's columns are publishing today, bringing you three times the variety!  I'll leave it to them to explain how and when they're going to run.

Today's song is a deadmau5 (pronounced "Dead Mouse," if you're unfamiliar with him) classic. Heads up, though-- the video posted has some flashing lights in it. Deadmau5 being his usual, abrasive self, he felt the need to complicate things and post a version of the song called "Moar Ghosts N Whatever" (first video) that is identical to the version called "Moar Ghosts N Stuff" (the link below the video), and to top it off, neither on of those has the same intro that Deadmau5 used on his album version of the song. Personally, I like this way a little better, so I decided to feature it instead. If you're curious to see the alternate intro, check the second link for an album version. I'm fairly sure he only used that version to make the album flow, but whatever. Enjoy the song, and welcome to the new Stuck In My Skull!

Note: Since we're still working out a few bugs, the site might change a bit from time to time. Just bear with us, and if something looks whacky, please, let us know!

Entry 305-- "Rudie Fails"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, October 5, 2012 | 10/05/2012 05:40:00 AM

Song: "Rudie Fails" || Artist: White Rabbits || http://youtu.be/2sIc5TsdkDQ ||

Comments: I certainly got a surprise while writing this. For the longest time, I thought this song was called "Rudie Falls"... Oh well. Either way, the song is excellent. White Rabbits are one of those bands I always think 'I should listen to more of them,' and for some reason never do. That really is shameful, as they're excellent. Their lyrics turn out to be deeper than most, and their sound is crisp and distinct and memorable. I love it. Happy Friday, and enjoy the weekend!

Entry 304-- "Rest in Peace"

Written By amandathepanda on Thursday, October 4, 2012 | 10/04/2012 05:45:00 AM

Song: "Rest in Peace" || Written by: Joss Whedon || Peformed by: James Marsters || http://youtu.be/c9p4drDZXIg ||
Comments: Hello all! Amanda here! I'm excited to share with you a song from the Buffy the Vampire Slayer musical episode, "Once More, with Feeling," written by none other than Joss Whedon. The whole soundtrack is fantastic, and impressive considering it was his first attempt at song writing, according to Wikipedia. The song is a small taste of Whedon's musical genius and Marsters, the actor portraying British vamp Spike in the series, gives a great performance, delivering both soft and hard vocals. If you're a Whedon fan but haven't checked out the show yet or just like what you hear, you should consider watching the entire episode. It's decidedly one of my favorites. Enjoy!

Entry 303-- "Musta Had a Good Time"

Written By Anonymous on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 | 10/03/2012 05:00:00 AM

Song: "Musta Had a Good Time" || Artist: Parmalee || http://youtu.be/0e3eoIkZEyA ||
Comments:  Hey all!  It's Miriah with some new country!  I'm happy to present this song today.  Parmalee is a new band out in country music (since about 2010), but here is their first single.  I heard it on the radio yesterday and I had several pulsating thoughts about this song.  One, this doesn't have a stereotypical country sound and the guitar sounds good.  Second, I would compare this to the country version of Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" and thirdly, this needs to be shared.  Even if you don't love country music listening to this song might be worth a bit of your time, even if it is just for a couple laughs for the lyrics.  I can't wait to hear more from this band, especially if they keep this sound.  Enjoy!

Entry 302-- "Can't Buy Me Love"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 | 10/02/2012 12:04:00 PM

Song: "Can't Buy Me Love" || Artist: The Beatles || http://youtu.be/SMwZsFKIXa8 ||

Comments: Yep, I completely forgot to update the blog today. Whoops. Anyway, reminder: We are moving to stuckinmyskull.wordpress.com on October 8th! Update your bookmarks! On to the song. I have no idea why this song is stuck in my head, as I haven't heard it in ages. Regardless, it's a lovely song. The Beatles might be "just a band" according to Dan le Sac vs Scroobius Pip (see song, "Thou Shalt Always Kill"), but that doesn't make them any less excellent. Enjoy!

Entry 301-- "Elements" and Announcement!

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, October 1, 2012 | 10/01/2012 06:02:00 AM

Song: "Elements" || Artist: Lindsey Stirling || http://youtu.be/sf6LD2B_kDQ ||

Comments: [Click to read the entire post!] Sorry about the lateness of this post, folks! But today, Stuck In My Skull has a major announcement! As of Monday, October 8th, Stuck In My Skull will be moving to Wordpress! Our website will be the same, the only thing that is changing is blogger is becoming wordpress, so you can find us at stuckinmyskull.wordpress.com. In addition, Miriah and Amanda will be starting their own columns that week, to bring you even more variety! All this week, Wordpress will be running in synch with Blogger. What this means for you is that you can read the post of the day on either Blogger or Wordpress. Wordpress is running in 'beta,' though, so there may be a few bugs. If you see anything weird on the Wordpress site, please please please let us know! Facebook us, email us, leave a comment on either site, and we'll get it taken care of. Also, we are pleased to announce we reached and exceeded 6000 hits over the weekend!
Anyway, the song. This is the second time that Lindsey Stirling has produced a violin/dubstep track, and like the original offering, Ms. Stirling did a fantastic job on this song. She emphasizes the dubstep part of the track a titch more than in "Crystallize," but I'm okay with that, as I think it sounds fantastic. As is usual for her, she put together a stunning video to accompany the song. All in all, I think Lindsey Stirling is an amazing artist, and I look forward to hearing more of her work.
