Entry 152-- "We Are Young"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 | 2/29/2012 04:35:00 AM

Song: "We Are Young"
Artist: Fun., feat Janelle Monáe
http://youtu.be/Sv6dMFF_yts
Comments: This morning, I woke up with "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch" playing in my head. On my way to breakfast, it was "I Hate Everything About You." I've been meaning to put this song up since I first heard it, however, and since I don't particularly feel like using either of the other two songs-- I mean, really, they've been stuck in my head for under half an hour apiece-- here's the song I've been wanting to use for a few days now. It's just beginning to get radio play in my area, and I'm hoping it gets even more. Enjoy the song!

Entry 151-- "Sorry for Party Rocking"

Song: "Sorry for Party Rocking"
Artist: LMFAO
http://youtu.be/SkTt9k4Y-a8
Comments: I meant to use this song yesterday, but I couldn't get the other one out of my head. This video is something like seven minutes long, but it's completely worth watching. In addition, it's part of a four-video series ("Sexy and I Know It" / "Sorry for Party Rocking" / "Party Rock Anthem" / "Champagne Showers") that, taken as a whole, is simply hilarious. The song is excellent, the humor in this video is absolutely, positively, stomach-hurts-from-laughing-so-hard-ingly amazing, and you should most definitely spend the time to watch this vid. Enjoy!

Entry 150-- "Save the World"

Song: "Save the World"
Artist: Swedish House Mafia
http://youtu.be/BXpdmKELE1k
Comments: I keep meaning to do a video game music week, but there're so many wonderful songs to share! I also meant to use the new LMFAO single, but in line with the name of this blog, I'm going to put off the shiny new video for one more day, and instead use the song that's been stuck in my head all day. The beat is catchy, the video is quite frankly adorable, and I love this song-- and I'm not even a dog person. Swedish House Mafia is one of those groups that, every time I listen to SHM, I wonder why I don't own more SHM. Enjoy the song!

Entry 149-- "Honey Bee"

Song: "Honey Bee"
Artist: Blake Shelton
http://youtu.be/xZjosn2u1gA
Comments: The link above and the video posted are two different videos-- the link goes to the official music video, which for some reason, I could not make work, no matter what I tried. Anyway, Miriah with today's post!

Hey everyone, here's your country for the week.  While there is a slight southern twang to this song it's great.  I have had this song stuck in my head on multiple occasions and I think this song is a good way to celebrate my four months with my wonderful boyfriend.  Enjoy!

Entry 148-- "Love Interruption"

Song: "Love Interruption"
Artist: Jack White (featuring Ruby Amanfu)
http://youtu.be/iErNRBTPbEc
Comments: As promised, more Jack White! This song is shiny new, and apparently is the first single from his upcoming album-- an album I have to admit I was previously unaware of, but am now anticipating greatly. Jack White is the only artist listed for this song, but a bit of browsing (source) reveals the other vocalist to be Ms. Amanfu, and identifies the other musicians present as well. Enjoy the song! I know I did...

Song: "Blue Orchid"
Artist: The White Stripes
http://youtu.be/QKntY8WkNYQ
Comments: By the virtue of being stuck in my head for the previous several minutes, today's post is the song "Blue Orchid" by The White Stripes. (Is 'the White Stripes' or 'The White Stripes?' I don't remember if their title includes the article... someone help me out?) This song is catchy, and I have no idea why it's stuck in my head. There will probably be more Jack White this week; He released a new song, and as soon as I take a second listen, I'll probably toss it this way. Enjoy!

Song: "Set Fire to the Rain"
Artist: Adele

Comments: This song has been getting so much radio play lately, it's on the border of being overplayed. Thankfully, it isn't quite there yet, which is good, because I'd hate to be sick of a song like this. Enjoy the song, and enjoy the weekend!

Song: "Animal Rights"
Artist: Deadmau5 & Wolfgang Gartner
http://youtu.be/SNXuQJo94pc
Comments: This song is just plain catchy. If you like electronic music, I feel comfortable in saying you'll probably enjoy this. If you don't like or don't really have a preference for most electronic music, you might want to give this song a listen anyway-- it's an excellent song. To my ears, it sounds faintly reminiscent of Daft Punk, with some more modern House Music-y touches. Enjoy!

Entry 143-- "Zombie"

Song: "Zombie"
Artist: The Cranberries
http://youtu.be/6Ejga4kJUts
Comments: Thanks to a friend of mine, who tossed this song my way via a 'best of' album that she always has playing in her car. (I say this from a place of love-- I/we love you!) This song has been rattling around my cranium all day, blending my brains into slush, and I figured I'd toss it your way. Socio-political commentary optional, depending on whether you watch the video and get the references. If not, it's a pretty, albeit slightly creepy, video. Either way, the song is great. Enjoy!

Song: "Lose Yourself"
Artist: Eminem
http://youtu.be/hO2wA0Te0wM
Comments: Many, many apologies for the several days of no updates-- life has been a little crazy. I woke up this morning (after some seriously weird dreams) with this song stuck in my head. Years back, this was my first exposure to both Eminem and rap as a genre-- it stuck with me. For years I didn't really like it, but it grew on me, and here I am, passing it on to you. I don't think this is an official music video, despite what it says in the comments, but I'm going to post it anyway. Enjoy!

Entry 140-- "Turn Me On" and Site Update!

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 | 2/08/2012 10:22:00 AM

Song: "Turn Me On"
Artist: David Guetta feat. Nicki Minaj
http://youtu.be/YVw7eJ0vGfM

Comments:
First, the site update. You probably noticed that instead of just a link, I left a video embedded in this post-- a function of Blogger I'd never thought to use until now. I'm going to play around with that until it works well and looks good. Any input is appreciated.

And now for the song. The latest release from David Guetta (I think he's trying for some awards or something, with this many singles...), featuring Nicki Minaj. I'm torn on this song-- I love 80% of it, and I'm only "meh" about the other 20%, which happens to be the part where Ms. Minaj is rapping. When she sings, she's pretty decent. For what it's worth, I could see her being mistaken for sounding like Rihanna in the chorus (starts 0:54),  and it's quite excellent. At 2:46, she loses me until about 3:01. I suspect it will eventually grow on me, but I think the song would have been just fine without that break in it. In all fairness, I'm probably still baised against Nicki Minaj because of her latest release, "Stupid Hoe," which I do not like, and frankly find rather annoying. Given time, I would write out a long, reasoned argument on why this song is objectively bad as opposed to me just subjectively disliking it, and I might, but for the moment, I'll let it go.

Entry 139-- "Ever Dream"

Song: "Ever Dream"
Artist: Nightwish
http://youtu.be/W39WaGTPnvg
Comments: I was writing the labels for a post on "Nemo" when I realized I had used it back in Entry 25. And thus, at the last second, a change of songs and a new entry. "Ever Dream" might well be my favourite song off the "End of an Era" live album, and quite possibly my favourite Nightwish song ever. It's a toss-up between that, "Ghost Love Score," "Bless the Child," and "Poet and the Pendulum." Of course, I haven't heard anything but "Storytime" off the new album, so it might well be replaced once I do. In the mean time, though, it's a contender for my favourite. Enjoy!

Song: "Crazy Girl"
Artist: Eli Young Band
http://youtu.be/J3HwFtdVTfM
Comments: It’s Miriah throwing in a bit of country to tie up the week; Please give it a listen (it doesn’t
sound too country-promise!) I didn’t realize when I first heard the song that when they say the girl is
crazy they actually meant mentally crazy until I saw the video. Either way I heard this song and got it
stuck in my head because it reminded me of my wonderful man. He’s not literally crazy as the video
implies and “the smartest thing I ever did was make him all mine.” Enjoy the song!

Comments: I got this classic stuck in my head after I a discussion on how getting shots are always preceded by "this will be just a little prick," which reminds me of the "Just a little pin-prick" line from this song. Truly a classic, this song stands the test of time. Enjoy.

Song: "Antidote"
Artist: Swedish House Mafia versus Knife Party
http://youtu.be/fbafd6UV3w4
Comments: Sorry for the late post, folks, but it's better late than never, right? For your viewing and listening pleasure, I present to you a collaboration between SHM and Knife Party, and I suspect some serious drugs. It's an excellent song, though, and I highly recommend you take a listen.
