Stuck In My Skull 475 -- "Wizard"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, November 22, 2013 | 11/22/2013 12:35:00 PM

Song: "Wizard" || Artist: Martin Garrix and Jay Hardway || http://youtu.be/KnL2RJZTdA4 ||
Comments: Hello everyone, and happy Friday! Today I bring you a song I heard on Pete Tong's radio show last week. I'd heard of Martin Garrix before, ever so briefly, in conjunction with his hit "Animals." I've never heard of Jay Hardway, though, but I suspect we'll be hearing a lot more of both of them based solely on the strength of this track. "Wizard" is amazing -- it's the perfect combination of classic dance rhythms and funky new innovations. It's not that I've never heard of temple drums before, but Martin Garrix uses them masterfully here. Check this song out, and enjoy the weekend!

Stuck In My Skull 473 -- "Minimal Beat"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, November 18, 2013 | 11/18/2013 06:37:00 AM

Song: "Minimal Beat" || Artist: Lindsey Stirling || http://youtu.be/HZa1iFO0Juk ||
Comments: Hello, everyone! This week I'm going to be trying to post on a Monday/Wednesday/Friday schedule and see if it works any better with my week, so stay tuned this week for (hopefully) regular entries. To kick the week off, Lindsey Stirling has a new song out, and it is excellent. If she hadn't become a viral-hit violinist, Lindsey may well have had a future in electronic music production. To say that the intro to the song reminds me of old-school Tiesto is a high complement in my book, and I found myself wanting play this song over and over. On top of the hypnotic beat is Lindsey Stirling's signature masterful violin work, artfully arranged and perfectly executed. Well done, Lindsey, well done indeed.

Hey guys, Chris here.
First, an announcement. I'm going to be changing what days I post to see if I can't get a routine that fits my schedule a little better. I'll be playing around with this next week, so stay tuned to see what happens.

In the mean time, check out what awesomeness is going down at "This Beat Is Newtricious" -- seriously, this song is amazing. Enjoy!

Stuck In My Skull 472 -- "Leave the World Behind"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, November 11, 2013 | 11/11/2013 07:22:00 AM

Song: "Leave the World Behind" || Artist: Swedish House Mafia and Laidback Luke feat. Deborah Cox || http://youtu.be/_HMP36Jb0EM (video; radio edit) || http://youtu.be/xG4AhAnyqvE (original mix) ||
Comments: Good morning everyone! We're going to start off another week of great music with a classic track from Swedish House Mafia and Laidback Luke. The artist on this track is listed as all three members of SHM under their own names, but this is definitely Swedish House. It's a classic of that dynamic trio, and neatly folds the influences of Laidback Luke into a typically Swedish House upbeat club track. Their steady beats are about as fast as their usual fare, clocking in around 130 BPM by my count, but the track feels a little more relaxed than most of their hits. On top of the typically Swedish House beats is a wonderful piano line and features the vocals of Canadian R&B singer Deborah Cox. Both mixes of this song are excellent, but as I originally heard the song in an album meant for continuous play (Until One), I prefer the original mix. While it's true that too many chefs ruins the soup, four DJs definitely do not ruin this song. Check it out, and remember to enjoy the day!

Stuck In My Skull 471 -- "Legacy"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Thursday, November 7, 2013 | 11/07/2013 08:21:00 AM

Song: "Legacy" || Artist: Nicky Romero vs Krewella || http://youtu.be/Y2siOteSzlE (radio edit -- Youtube) || http://goo.gl/UcorIk (Radio edit -- Soundcloud) || http://youtu.be/YPTp4okj-eM (Official video) ||

Comments: Hello everyone! Get ready for a treat, because this track is amazing. I've been a huge fan of Nicky Romero ever since I stumbled onto "Toulouse" some time ago, and I've lately become enamored of Krewella since I heard "Alive" and "Come and Get It." Imagine my surprise to see that the two artists have collaborated and made an amazing track! Both the radio edit and the full version are spectacular, with the full version containing a video that creeped me out right until the very end (which was adorable). "Legacy" is wonderful.  Krewella's vocals really highlight all the drops and peaks that definitely sound like Nicky Romero's classic style, and I just can't get enough of it. I'm going to be listening to this song all day, and I bet you'll have it stuck in your head in a hurry. Enjoy!

Stuck In My Skull 470 -- "22"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 | 11/05/2013 06:16:00 AM

Song: "22" || Artist: Taylor Swift || http://youtu.be/AgFeZr5ptV8 ||
Comments: Good morning, folks! Sorry about the lack of post from yesterday -- my laptop broke horribly. This morning, let's talk about an awesomely cheesy song. This track goes out to a friend of mine whose birthday is today, and she is actually turning 22 today. Hopefully if she's 'happy, free, confused, and lonely,' it'll be in the best way. So long as she keeps dancing like she's 22, I think it will. Enjoy!
