Comments: Hey all! It's Amanda! This Friday I thought I’d share some foreign language music. For some time now, I've known about Rammstein but for whatever reason they didn’t really pop up on my radar until this summer. They are a German industrial metal band uuber controversial for their use of wordplay in their songs and militaristic imagery in their videos and live performances. "Amerika”, sung partly in English and partly in German, is a blatant critique on Americanization. Even if you don't speak their native tongue, it's hard to miss all the allusions to American culture and politics in the lyrics and video (Mickey Mouse, Santa Claus...etc). The song also rocks pretty hard and has a memorable refrain, and a killer keyboard solo toward the end of it. These guys have taken serious flack for their music choices, especially in their home country, but I say keep doing what you're doing. Enjoy and have a great weekend!
