Comments: Happy Thursday, everyone! I have been a musical recluse recently, however, I did decide today that some metal would be a good way to keep my mind occupied from the insanity that has been this week. The songs that I wanted to use have all been taken by fellow blogger, Christopher. While I wasn't thrilled with this it did give me a reason to listen to some of their music with which I'm not so familiar. The song that caught my eye was this one (obviously). It has a soothing, beautiful instrumental to start and then turns into the typical, powerful metal. Turns out this is also a great motivating song for running. I wish I had more to say about this song, but happy listening!
Comments: Hey, everyone. Happy Friday. I was listening to the awesome radio here at school and realized that I have had a serious lack of rock and metal music in my life recently. So I went out and picked this group for today. This song in particular is what got me to listen to more of this group and so I thank this song immensely for it. Hey, folks! I hope your week is off to a good start. As Christopher mentioned yesterday, I am doing a new schedule: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. On Tuesdays I am going to be bringing you multiple songs (probably two) rather than just one. Why? Because, why not? I'm calling it Two Timing Tuesday as I will be bringing you double the number of songs. Now, whether or not this is going to be a consist theme, artist, etc. has yet to be determined. For right now, it is not going to be anything set, but that may change and if it does I will let you know.
Right, so now to get to today's blog. I did say that I was going to bring around some variety for today's post. Even though this is still pop music I am delivering some Spanish.
Comments: Ah, David. How we love, thee. I went on a binge with this artist the other night so you're getting a double dose of him today. This song was something that I came across when I first started listening to Sr. Bisbal. It was one that became a favourite and was stuck in my head frequently. This artist is well known in Spain and so don't be surprised if you don't know who he is. Although, rumour has it that he did a song with Miley Cyrus. Anyhow, this song is wonderful, catchy, and so is the video. I like what he did with the background actions; they are making no noise even when they should (hence the name of the song "Silence"). Just like love, these actions are loud and powerful and if you read the lyrics this is what is killing him. The chorus reads: silence/ eternal and deaf just like the memory of love that you gave me/ silence, so big, so empty, and dead/ as it burns this pain in my body/ as this silent love hurts. Comments: Here's another song from David. I don't have too much to say about this one. However, it does show off his vocals in more of a ballad form then a lot of his other songs. Chenoa I haven't heard much from, but she also does a fantastic job with her voice in this song. The chorus here reads: Through the desire that never ended/ through that time that was for two/ I go back to you, dying for your love/ by the illusion that still beats between you and I/ your bitterness is lost in the innocence/ I return to you, dying for your love/ dying for your love. Comments: Hey all! It's Miriah with some new country! I'm happy to present this song today. Parmalee is a new band out in country music (since about 2010), but here is their first single. I heard it on the radio yesterday and I had several pulsating thoughts about this song. One, this doesn't have a stereotypical country sound and the guitar sounds good. Second, I would compare this to the country version of Katy Perry's "Last Friday Night" and thirdly, this needs to be shared. Even if you don't love country music listening to this song might be worth a bit of your time, even if it is just for a couple laughs for the lyrics. I can't wait to hear more from this band, especially if they keep this sound. Enjoy!
Comments: Hey everyone, it's Miriah. Happy Wednesday. Now, the song for today is not new or recent, however it has been stuck in my head numerous times and I've been meaning to share it and keep forgetting. Then today I found out that Ludacris has done a remix of it with Mr. Aldean?! It's not terribly often that genres mix and do duets such as this. Of course, they do exist and it isn't a surprise when I see one, but the point is that I do excited when it happens because it isn't an every day occurrence (and especially not with country). I am happy to report that the changed bridge that Ludacris provides for the song is good. For those of you who are used to Mr. Aldean's bridge here are the lyrics to Ludacris' remix. Enjoy!
Comments: Hey all, it's Miriah and I hope you're having a wonderful Wednesday. I'm slowing it down a bit in comparison to the last couple posts. I can't say that this song is terribly new, it's already hit radio and such, however I felt the need to share it. To elaborate on what someone said in the comments below the video, gentlemen, pay attention. The lyrics to this song is the kind of thing that your girl wants to hear. But besides that, even though this is a simple song, plain Jane video, doesn't have any fantastic beat, and in all honesty it probably won't be legendary, but I think it's sweet and it's just something nice to listen to and I felt the need to share. I am a big fan of the black and white screen shot with small bursts of colour like the red in this video. As easy going as the song might be...Enjoy!
Comments: Hey all, it's Miriah. Happy Wednesday! I'm bringing you all the latest from Train. I have to say I was very amused the first time I heard this song on the radio and I am even more amused by the music video. The song starts out with a Mariachi kind of feeling and is then portrayed as such in the video. While the humour in this video is somewhat crude (i.e. her head as a soccer ball), I have to say that it is still entertaining because of the absurdity of the imagery the band gives us. Now, why this takes place in the grocery store is beyond me, but the human like portrayal of death, or the reaper, as a shopper is again one of the more crude amusing anecdotes. One final comment is that the fast tempo of the chorus and some slight lack of diction makes it difficult to understand if one isn't paying attention closely so I recommend having the lyrics at hand. This was one of her songs to which I knew all the lyrics (though in all fairness I knew a lot of lyrics of hers). Comments: Happy Tuesday, all! It's Miriah bringing you neither country or foreign language or any kind. Instead, I am putting out there the first single from Matchbox Twenty's new album "North" that I heard once before it got stuck in my head. It reminds me of some older songs (it reminds me of the "Uptown Girl" by Billy Joel variety type of songs). The video was released roughly a month ago, and has recently been getting a decent amount of radio play. As good as this song is (as well as the visual effects at the end of the video), I'm really disappointed by the large amount of instrumental destruction that takes place. Comments: Hey everyone! It's Miriah bringing some Spanish to your Thursday morning. I have to admit that I haven't listened to a lot of this particular artist, however, I will say that the few songs of hers that I own have all had the opportunity to seize control of my brain and play over and over. I think everyone has a song where only a line or two plays in their head even if they remember the tune and this is one of mine. Anyway, the song's title translates to "I Don't Ask for Flowers" and it is very catchy. The creator of the video definitely wanted to make the distinction between her misery and the cheery part of the 'I will be stronger than this breakup' portion. This song a kind of stereotypical love song, but I have to say that I really enjoy the lyrics to it. Below is a translation of the chorus. Enjoy!

Comments: Hey everyone! It's Miriah here. I'm bringing something different to the table than I usually do. I guess I can still call it foreign because this band is from the Netherlands. Anyway! I came across this song on iHeartRadio today and thought the song was great. This band is new to me and I'm going to start listening to more of their things. Once I've nailed the lyrics to this song I can guarantee I'll be singing it. While watching the video, I recommend paying attention at around 3:40 because there is an awesome guitar interlude. Comments: Hey all! It's Miriah here bringing in some new Romanian music that I stumbled across today. This particular group is excellent. Which sounds like a generic statement, but to put it more specifically these are someone that I would go out and buy their album. I have found some other new artists as well that have some similar sounds. Akcent, which Chris compares it to Edward Maya (Stereo Love), is Eurodance and from the songs I listened to there hasn't been one yet that I didn't like. This particular video isn't terribly exciting as the scenery is consist through approximately ninety percent of the video, however the song itself is definitely worth a listen. Comments: Hey all, it's Miriah! Happy Monday. I am bringing you a song that just started hitting the radio, because the last couple of days I haven't been able to get the song out of my head. This band is relatively new (their first album was released back in '09 and their latest released this year). While they are categorized as country, I would like to say that they don't have that thick 'twang' and all three of their hits don't have any of the "beers and tears" kind of messages that usually show up in country songs. I listened to this new duo's other two hit songs and they sound good. I really hope that they get some momentum, because this is one duo that I wanna see make it. Enjoy!

Comments: Hey everyone! It's Miriah bringing back some country for the week. I heard this song recently on the radio and I have to say it is excellent. Ms. Underwood has produced yet another song that I have a feeling is going to rise pretty high on the charts. It's got the same musical feel as "Good Girl" her last hit, but the message of this particular song is much more intense. It reminds me of some older country songs with a similar plot line (see "The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia", Reba McEntire). Anyhow, this is another great song, and I thoroughly approve of the excess amounts of guitarists in the performance. (Small side note: I like to be able to post a live performance and feel confident that the song still sounds good.) Enjoy!

Comments: Hey it's Miriah again. I'm bringing some Cosmic Gate to Thursday. I have heard of this band previously, but I haven't listened to a lot of their music. I did catch this song recently, and it certainly is 'trance'. I've only heard it a few times and it's already stuck in my head and I have a feeling that it won't be leaving any time soon. Aruna doesn't have quite the power behind her voice than some others I have been listening to recently, but I love the tone in her voice. Comments: Hey all! It's Miriah with some more Spanish. I know that this artist was represented on the blog a little while ago, but there is another song of theirs that I have had stuck in my head on more than one occasion and I think it's an excellent song. What I like about this song (English: Blue Dress) is that although this group sings mainly pop music this song isn't a Jepsen of sorts. Comments: Hola todos! Hello everyone, it's Miriah. I have brought today a little bit of Spanish music again. Sr. Bisbal is a favourite of mine and is mainly pop music in Spain, and Wisin y Yandel have more of a hip-hop style, but together they made an amazing song. The beat itself is excellent (I've had it stuck in my head several times) and admittedly this video has some good dancing. I am sharing the English lyrics with you. I'll admit that this translation that I found is not great, but the point of the song is what I am trying to share not whether or not someone understands every word. I was going to translate just the chorus like last time, but I feel like all of the song should be understood; it's intense, but good. Comments: Hey all! It's Miriah (finally) getting some foreign language in here for ya. I figured since it's been a while I would do a song from my favourite Spanish band. This band from Spain (Van Gogh's Ear) has been extremely successful and as I mentioned a favourite of mine. I'm sending you an older song because their vocalist Amaia Montero has, unfortunately, left them in the last couple of years and I personally think she's the better of the two. Anyhow, this song is excellent. It's the stuck in my head, writing the lyrics on my notebook instead of anything scholarly type of song for me. It also has a very cool video. Enjoy!

Comments: Hey all! It's Miriah. I originally told myself that my next post was going to be foreign because I've gone back to listening to some old (and great) Spanish artists. However, I have discovered that Miranda Lambert here is going on tour and as a result I have gone through and listened to a lot of her stuff both new and old. This is a song has been stuck in my head many times, and for those Lambert fans this song is probably familiar. Back when it was released it reached #61 on the US Billboard Top 100 and #15 on the country billboard. If you haven't heard it now is the time to hear a song about revenge on a cheater boyfriend. Though, I don't recommend setting the town on fire as she does in the video. Anyhow, enjoy!
