See you in January!

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, December 15, 2014 | 12/15/2014 05:59:00 AM

Hi everyone,
Things have been pretty slow around here lately, and it's time I called a spade a spade -- I don't have enough time. Right now, I need to focus my energies elsewhere (like my website and web radio station at djponytail.com), and give myself time to get my energy back. For that reason, I've decided to take the rest of December off. I've been running and writing for Stuck In My Skull pretty much continuously for over three years -- my first post was waaaay back on July 16, 2011. I've been able to slow down some now and then while having other people write on the blog, and I've taken a week off once or twice, but I've never really a decent chunk of time off to catch my breath. With that being said, I want to assure everyone that Stuck In My Skull is not 'going on indefinite hiatus,' being abandoned, or any nonsense like that. No, I'm just taking the rest of December off, nothing more. So with that, I'll see you wonderful people in 2015! Have a great holiday season, and keep rocking out!

Shout Out and Huge Props

Hey guys, Chris here with a special announcement. The one and only DJ Abso-Newt-ly has hit a major milestone -- he's got 1000 views! If that weren't enough, everyone's favourite has promised to acquire a mixer and start producing some epic remixes for all his loyal fans. Read all about it and hear a great song here. Congrats, man, and we can't wait to see where you go next!

Stuck In My Skull 385 -- "Clarity" and Announcement!

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, February 25, 2013 | 2/25/2013 06:00:00 AM

Song: "Clarity" || Artist: Zedd feat. Foxes || http://youtu.be/IxxstCcJlsc ||
Comments: Hey everyone, I'm going to get the announcement out of the way first. With Amanda back on the blog, there are now four of us writing, and two to three of us writing on any given day -- that's a tad too much, we think. As a result, I'm going to try writing on just three days a week. Starting today, I'll be writing on just Monday, Tuesday, and Friday. I'm doing this to keep some balance in the number of posts each day, and hopefully having more time to write will make for better entries from me. After 384 posts, I have to admit I've worn a bit thin.

Moving on to the song. First, I had to check: Zedd has nothing to do with Zed's Dead, who did the massively popular remix of "Eyes on Fire" by Blue Foundation. Zedd is a 23 year old wonderkid of electronic music that I've never heard of, and will be listening to quite a bit after this post. He has remixed some of the biggest names in pop and electronic music, and is currently producing Lady Gaga's ARTPOP album, according to Wikipedia. At time of writing, this song is third on Billboard's Dance/Club Play Songs chart, and has spent nine weeks on the chart. I can see why. Foxes' (Louisa Rose Allen) vocals pick up where the beautiful piano intro leaves off, and step on the gas, taking this listener through an emotional, amazing journey. This song is simply phenomenal. Check it out!

Stuck In My Skull 370 -- "White" and Announcements!

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, January 21, 2013 | 1/21/2013 05:39:00 AM

Song: "White" || Artist: Nocolor || https://soundcloud.com/housemusic/white-by-nocolor-music/ ||

Comments: Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, welcome back to Stuck In My Skull on Blogger! Today is a huge day for all of us, so let's get some announcements out of the way before we get any farther.
First and most obvious, we are now back on Blogger, and thrilled to be here!
Second, Blogger might look a tad different than when we left. Actually, it should look majorly different. Because I don't know when to quit and give up, my quest for the ultimate template and site design lead me to teach myself some rudimentary HTML, get my hands on a theme I sort of liked (check the attribution at the bottom of the page), and rip that sucker to shreds. We're talking at least eight hours spent keyboard-deep in some seriously massive code that I more-or-less understand, editing everything. What did I learn? Weird designs for Blogger templates are hard to find, and I don't want to be a webmaster. But none of that matters -- we are all very happy to be back, and very happy to have you back with us!
Third, "we" now is a little differnet. Stuck In My Skull is thrilled to welcome new author Laura to the party! Amanda has decided to take a break from blogging for a bit, but this hiatus is only temporary -- our tagline (that's different too!) says four bloggers, and means it!
Fourth, our schedules have shifted around a bit! I'm still posting each weekday, but Miriah has changed her days to Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday so Laura can post Monday and Wednesday. Miriah tells me she plans to do something interesting on one of her days, so keep an eye (and ear) open!
Lastly, look up. That's no YouTube video! When Laura joined us, one of the first thing she asked me was 'Can we embed Soundcloud?' and it turns out, yes, we can!

And on that note, let's talk about Soundcloud so prettily embedded in this post. (Did you notice it says download?) I have never heard of Nocolor, and that really annoys me, because this song is fantastic. "White" is an excellent album with a good beat, a catchy melody, and some fantastic arrangement. My foot is tapping as I write this, because it just can't resist this infectious beat. And I love the piano bit at about 50 seconds in and the synth that follows it. I just can't get enough of this track. Enjoy!

Stuck In My Skull 365 -- "Summit" and Announcement!

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, January 14, 2013 | 1/14/2013 12:00:00 AM

Song: "Summit" || Artist: Skrillex feat. Ellie Goulding || http://youtu.be/-e_3Cg9GZFU ||

[youtube http://youtu.be/-e_3Cg9GZFU]

Comments: Happy Monday, everyone! To kick off the week, how about some old Skrillex, recently improved with the addition of a new video! "Summit" is very chill, and not nearly so aggressive as most of the tracks Skrillex produces. The touch of Ellie Goulding makes this already decent track downright pretty. This song is calming, makes me smile, and is definitely worth a listen.

Announcement: Do you know what else makes me smile? This announcement! In one week -- starting Monday, January 21 -- Stuck In My Skull is moving back to blogger! That's right, we are abandoning Wordpress and moving back to stuckinmyskull.blogspot.com! Set your bookmarks now, folks, because SIMS is going back to Blogger!

Entry 301-- "Elements" and Announcement!

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Monday, October 1, 2012 | 10/01/2012 06:02:00 AM

Song: "Elements" || Artist: Lindsey Stirling || http://youtu.be/sf6LD2B_kDQ ||

Comments: [Click to read the entire post!] Sorry about the lateness of this post, folks! But today, Stuck In My Skull has a major announcement! As of Monday, October 8th, Stuck In My Skull will be moving to Wordpress! Our website will be the same, the only thing that is changing is blogger is becoming wordpress, so you can find us at stuckinmyskull.wordpress.com. In addition, Miriah and Amanda will be starting their own columns that week, to bring you even more variety! All this week, Wordpress will be running in synch with Blogger. What this means for you is that you can read the post of the day on either Blogger or Wordpress. Wordpress is running in 'beta,' though, so there may be a few bugs. If you see anything weird on the Wordpress site, please please please let us know! Facebook us, email us, leave a comment on either site, and we'll get it taken care of. Also, we are pleased to announce we reached and exceeded 6000 hits over the weekend!
Anyway, the song. This is the second time that Lindsey Stirling has produced a violin/dubstep track, and like the original offering, Ms. Stirling did a fantastic job on this song. She emphasizes the dubstep part of the track a titch more than in "Crystallize," but I'm okay with that, as I think it sounds fantastic. As is usual for her, she put together a stunning video to accompany the song. All in all, I think Lindsey Stirling is an amazing artist, and I look forward to hearing more of her work.

Entry 283-- "We Will Rock You" with Major Milestone and Announcement!

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Wednesday, September 5, 2012 | 9/05/2012 05:00:00 AM

Song: "We Will Rock You" || Artist: Queen || http://youtu.be/-tJYN-eG1zk ||

Comments: Wow. Dude. Seriously. This thing is working? For real? Apparently it is. I've pinched myself, slapped myself, restarted my computer, and had someone else come look at it too, and it's not changing. (Actually, not really. I just did a double-take.) The hit counter... reads over 5000.
I'm going to try and keep my head attached and functioning properly, so I don't look like the person in this comic, drooling into a stupor, or this person, exploding into rainbows. I am ridiculously thrilled by this. To top it off, I have even more good news-- keep an eye on the blog, because soon Miriah and Amanda will be writing more, and launching their own columns!
I really don't know what commentary I can give on this song. It's a classic, and it fits this blog so well. If you come, we will try our level best to rock you. Enjoy the song!
