Stuck In My Skull 515 -- "Fly By Night Only"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, May 23, 2014 | 5/23/2014 07:48:00 AM

Song: "Fly By Night Only" || Artist: The Glitch Mob feat. Yaarrrohs || http://youtu.be/sWir8bPu7kI ||

Comments: Good morning everyone. Yesterday I was listening to Love, Death, Immortality, and for some reason this song really struck me. I found myself really enjoying the vocals on this song and appreciating the track in a way that I hadn't before when it kept getting eclipsed in my mind by other tracks on the album. I Google'd the vocalist -- Yaarrohs -- this morning, and didn't find much. A Facebook page describing her (I'm assuming 'her' is the correct pronoun) genre as "Dream Pop. Bedroom Slow dance Heat-wave." and a link to her website, which turns out to be a tumblr page. Google also turned up an Instagram profile and a Soundcloud profile with no uploads. So who is Yaarroohs? I literally have no idea, but she sounds great on this track. Her vocals make this track, hands down, and they're amazing. Give this song a listen if you haven't before, and if any of you know anything about Yaarrohs, be sure to leave a comment and tell us!

Stuck In My Skull 499 -- "Once Again"

Written By Christopher Audiophile on Friday, March 14, 2014 | 3/14/2014 09:34:00 AM

Song: "Once Again" || Artist: Tristam || http://youtu.be/59M5z0c8YtE ||
Comments: Hello everyone, and happy Friday! I promise this will be the last song from the new Monstercat album I mention for awhile. I wasn't going to write this much about the album originally, but I just had to do this song. It's been stuck in my head for days now. Like most artists on this album, I'd never heard of Tristam prior to listening to the album, and I mean it when I say "I don't know why." If this song is anything to go by, Tristam is amazing. His vocals are the perfect complement to his ridiculously catchy beat. I'm not going to try and provide trivia or descriptions here, just go listen. Enjoy it, and have a great weekend!

Stuck In My Skull 493 -- "Skullclub"

Song: "Skullclub" || Aritst: The Glitch Mob || http://youtu.be/nk6wVLeIbdM ||
Comments: Hello everyone, and happy Friday! This week has kept me ridiculously busy, but nevermind me, let's talk about this momentous occasion! The new Glitch Mob album is out! Everything I've heard from it thus far has been absolutely amazing. It's got a new, more aggressive feel while simultaneously retaining that otherworldly beauty that is the hallmark of The Glitch Mob. The album also incorporates more vocals than Drink The Sea, as shown in this track. I don't mind it, though -- the songs are still epic. This song is one of the non/less-vocal songs on the album, and doesn't contain a featured artist providing the lyrics. Instead, it's just one or two lines. And let me tell you, those lines do amazing things to this track. It's been a very, very, very long time since I've been so pumped about either a song or an album. This stuff is amazing -- go listen!

Stuck In My Skull 478 -- "Can't Kill Us"

Song: "Can't Kill Us" || Artist: The Glitch Mob || http://youtu.be/qKxDzyHPo0o ||
Comments: Wow, this took a long time to get posted. I was having serious technical problems on Wednesday and travelling for the holidays on Friday, but here I am to prove that nothing keeps a good song down. And what a song this is! The first single off the upcoming album LOVE DEATH IMMORTALITY, "Can't Kill Us" is an amazing track. It sounds darker than much of their work in Drink the Sea, but I love this sound. It's exceptionally well-produced, containing so many layers of instrumentation that I hear something new everytime I listen. The beat is amazing, containing a drum element that sounds faintly DnB under waffles that scream classic Glitch Mob. This song is epic, pure and simple. It's going to rock your world.

Stuck In My Skull 477 -- "Fistful of Silence"

Song: "Fistful of Silence" || Artist: The Glitch Mob || http://youtu.be/aC2UoJZXrR0 ||
Comments: Good morning, everyone! Sorry for the fistful of silence (couldn't resist the pun) that's been on this blog lately. I'm currently the only one writing and I've been crazy busy and had all sorts of problems come up. In essence, I'm living in a mild case of Murphy's Law. I think I've got everything sorted out now, and this should be the last time there'll be an unannounced hiatus from the blog. But enough about that, let's talk about the music. This song is the fifth track from The Glitch Mob's first studio album, Drink the Sea. I say first, because their new album comes out tomorrow and I'm so incredibly excited. "Fistful of Silence" is a slightly industrial-sounding track full of deep, bass-y goodness paired with some seriously incredible beats. The song is opened with a ridiculously excellent hook that I absolutely love, and powered by those glitchy melodies that only The Glitch Mob could come up with. Give this track a listen, and hold tight for the new album release!

Stuck In My Skull 362 -- "Bad Wings"

Comments: Continuing on the theme of 'Things I Got Over The Holidays,' The Glitch Mob! I have long expressed my affection for this insane trio of musicians, but this song takes it to blistering new heights. I had it stuck in my head the other day, and I swear it was so loud! I felt this song in my soul. The crisp kick drum in my ears, the thrum of the bass deep in my chest, the ethereal voice and the piano melody dancing about my soul, everything. I didn't hear this song, I felt this song. I lived this song. This song reminds me why music is so beautiful. Enjoy!

Stuck In My Skull 343 -- "Animus Vox"

Comments: Things I feel bad about as a blogger right now:

  • Overusing electronica as a genre

  • Overusing The Glitch Mob as a band

  • Not posting yesterday

  • Not posting anything new and unique today

Don't get me wrong. I love Glitch Mob. Those gentlemen know how to make a beat. And I love electronic music. But I've put too much up lately, and too much Glitch Mob. So it is with this in mind that I beg you to go and listen to the song anyway, because it is fantastic. Enjoy!

Stuck In My Skull 313-- "Fortune Days"

Comments: Awhile back, I used another song by this group-- "We Can Make The World Stop." I have to say, the more I listen to The Glitch Mob, the more I am falling in love with them.  TGM has all of the bass I want without sounding distorted (a curiously uncommon trait), and has some ridiculously catchy hooks and beats. In short, TGM is exactly what I want out of my electronic music.

As for today's video, there is no official video for this song, so rather than album art, I saw that someone had posted a video of themselves playing (possibly highscoring on) Audiosurf to this song, and decided it was better than a single image. Enjoy!

Entry 296-- "We Can Make the World Stop"

Comments: I wasn't originally looking for this song, but when I couldn't remember the name of The Glitch Mob's song that I was looking for, I clicked the video and promptly fell in love with the tune. The Glitch Mob is an interesting sound, representing a sub-genre of electronica (appropriately, "glitch") that hasn't worked its way into the mainstream of electronic music yet, let alone mainstream pop. Oddly enough, it reminds me most heavily of the soundtrack and sound effects in the web game "Give Up Robot" produced by Adult Swim Games (heads up-- trippy lights and sound, bordering on epileptic, and a huge black hole of time and productivity). Either way, the group (what I've heard of them) and the song are both excellent. Enjoy!
Edit: Sorry this didn't go up on schedule-- either I derped or Blogger derped, and I'm not sure which.
