Comments: Holy hell, DJ NeShKi has dropped his first mix! I just finished listening to it, and let me tell you, it's amazing. I do have a few critiques for DJ NeShKi, though. First, 20 minutes? Way to short. It is not fair to your audience to cut something so awesome so short. Second, the title of your track needs some work. "Funk Mix 3:22:2014" isn't quite descriptive enough. How about something like "I Will Make You Love Funk" or "Mind-Blower"?
All joking aside, this is amazing. DJ NeShKi did an amazing job of his first mix, even playing through his mixer getting bumped and dropping his tempo unexpectedly. Read all about it on here on his blog, and download it from his Soundcloud. Bravo, sir, bravo.

Comments: It is Friday! Congratulations on surviving the week! Just finish out today, and you're in the weekend! To help you through the day, I give you this song. I've seriously been looking forward to today all week just so I could use the song. In fact, this song is the reason I wanted to do Pop Week II in the first place: It reminded me that pop can be good. And seriously, this song is amazing. First, let's talk vocals. Pharell Williams is great. As is my habit when I don't know much about an artist, I go read their Wikipedia page -- he has had quite a career. My first exposure to Pharell Williams was in the track "One (Your Name)" by Swedish House Mafia, in which he provided vocals. Honestly, I wouldn't have recognized him if I hadn't already been aware he was in this track. I know he's got a good vocal range, but he sounds completely different -- he has a completely different style in this track. And what a style it is, flowing perfectly with the funky, guitar-plucking, disco-esque feel of the song. And on that note, this song is something else. Trust Daft Punk to mix it up and go disco. Pharell's vocals dominate most of the song, but Daft Punk's signature vocoder vocals do make an appearance in the last minute. According to the Wikipedia page about the song, "Upon hearing "Get Lucky", Pharrell remarked that the music evoked the sense of being on an exotic island during a "peachy color[ed]" sunrise." I find myself agreeing completely. If you haven't noticed yet, I love this song. Check it out!

Comments: Happy Friday, folks! First of all, I would like to thank Amanda for telling me about this band. I would like to thank for Macauley for reminding me about this band. And I would really really really like to thank Amanda for not going insane because I always manage to forget about bands she's told me about. I'm sorry!
Song. What's not to love about this song? The instrumentation is fantastic, with those horns that I've been digging lately (since yesterday). The guitars on this track are just right, complementing the vocals, and the thing they do (or is it the keyboards?) on the third beat is just fantastic. The drumming seals the deal with that groove-able beat that just makes you move. And the vocals? Love 'em. Enjoy!

AMANDA-- "SUPERSTITION" by STEVIE WONDER

Happy Thursday! Since I've decided to run with the theme of Halloween, today's song is "Superstition," a 70's classic. While I don't believe in superstitions, I do believe in Stevie Wonder, a musical icon who has racked up countless hits over the course of his forty year career. This, one of most his recognizable songs, is pure,unadulterated funk. Those beats. That bass. According to Wikipedia, the single solidified his shift away from Motown to a sound all his own, the same unique sound he since become famous for. I dare you to listen to it and resist the urge to sing or dance along. Enjoy!
